First Business Venture

The expanding Pakistani community in inner-Birmingham means that the scarcity of halal meat is fast becoming a problem. Haji Ghalib responds to the needs of the local community by buying chickens from farms in surrounding rural areas and performing the Islamic slaughter ritual, he then supplies this halal meat to the local community.

Alamgeer Food Store

Haji Ghaleb puts aside an amount of money over the years and eventually opens a store on the corner of Marlborough Road, Small Heath, Birmingham. He entrusts his two sons to run the store. Alamgeer Food Store starts to supply the local community with a spice mix known as Bassar. For the first time, the local community in Small Heath get a real taste of home and begin to associate the Alamgeer name with quality authentic imported spices.

Alamgeer Foods Ltd

Struggling to find space in his Birmingham shop due to the sheer amount of imported spices, Haji Aurungzeb moves his stock to a warehouse in Darlaston, Walsall. The name of Alamgeer officially becomes incorporated into Alamgeer Foods Limited. At this time, we increase the number of sales representatives who travel up and down the country taking orders from businesses and we diversify our lines of products to include drinks, pulses, Asian cosmetics, teas, and various other Asian products.
